The law gives your local authority 20 weeks to issue an EHC Plan, from the day your assessment request goes in. In 2024, only 46.4% of new EHC plans in England were issued within that deadline (Department for Education, Explore Education Statistics, 2025 release). The parents who get heard when it runs late are the ones with dates — what was sent, when, to whom, and what was promised back.
