Armenian Christmas at Home Family Kit

On December 25 the grandchildren open their presents with their friends. Then, twelve days later, the family dresses for church again, and one of them asks why. This kit is for the grandmother or grandfather who wants to answer that well.

Armenian Christmas at Home explains, in plain words a child can follow, why the Armenian Church keeps Christmas and Theophany together on January 6, and gives the family pages to plan the two days, set the Christmas Eve table and remember it. Dates are for 2027: Christmas Eve on Tuesday, January 5, and Christmas and Theophany on Wednesday, January 6.

Inside, 16 pages:
- Page 1: cover. Page 2: contents and how to use the kit.
- Pages 3 to 4: why January 6: the birth and the baptism of Jesus remembered on one day, the older custom the Armenian Church kept, presents on December 25, and why Armenians in Jerusalem celebrate on January 19.
- Pages 5 to 7: what many families and parishes do: the lamp-lighting service on Christmas Eve, the Blessing of Water with the Muron and the dove-shaped vessel, the Christmas greeting, the Home Blessing, January 7 and January 13.
- Pages 8 to 9: Christmas Eve table cards: a card for each dish and a place card for each guest.
- Pages 10 to 11: the family plan for January 5 and 6, with spaces for your parish's service times.
- Pages 12 to 13: tell your class: a short talk a child can give at school, and a poster to fill in.
- Page 14: a memory page for Christmas 2027.
- Pages 15 to 16: where the facts come from, and notes.

Customs and the 2027 dates are checked against the Armenian Church's own pages in the United States (the Eastern and Western Dioceses and the Armenian Prelacy); the Jerusalem date comes from the Custody of the Holy Land's Christian Media Center. The wording is our own; the greeting is quoted from those churches. Print on US Letter or A4.
