Anonymity and selling are not usually offered together, because most marketplaces are built around knowing who you are before they will pay you.
Nobody selling through any marketplace is invisible to the marketplace itself — someone has to know where a payment goes. What varies enormously is how much of that information becomes a permanent, identity-linked account versus a one-time detail attached to a single payout.
A buyer, too, is never looking at a seller’s real identity on most marketplaces — a shop name and a storefront stand in for it. What this page covers is the seller’s side of that equation: how much is collected to make a payout possible, not whether a shop appears personal or anonymous to the person buying from it.
Getting paid through us does not require setting up a seller account or a shop profile — a PayPal email address is what a payout goes to, and that is the detail involved. There is no identity document step and no permanent profile being built up around a seller’s name across every listing they make.
That single detail is tied to a payout, not to a persistent login: there is no password to recover, no dashboard to maintain, and no account that can be locked out independently of the listing itself. The listing and the payout address are what exist; an account, as most marketplaces mean the word, does not.
That also means there is nothing to delete later if a seller stops listing - there was never a profile accumulating activity in the first place, only a sequence of individual listings and payouts.
Less identity collected on our side also means less for a seller to lean on if something goes wrong with a specific payout — a marketplace that holds nothing about you also has less to use to track something down. Anonymity and a fully managed account relationship are opposite ends of the same decision, not a free upgrade from one to the other. Fee numbers for both the listing and the payout are at /tools/fees.
Staying anonymous does not change a single number on the fee stack. Listing is still 10¢, renewed every four months (30¢ a year); the payout mechanism — a PayPal transfer that costs us 25¢ and the seller nothing — is the same whether or not a name was ever collected. There is no premium charged for the detail not being asked for, and no discount for handing it over either.
That is worth saying plainly because the two are easy to assume are linked: a seller might expect that skipping identity checks comes with a catch buried in the fee somewhere. It does not, here — the listing fee and the payout cost are the same fixed numbers regardless of how much or how little was ever asked about who is selling, so there is nothing extra to find once you look for it.
A file to list and a PayPal email address to receive a payout - no business registration, no identity document, no shop profile.
A payment has to go somewhere, so the payout detail itself is kept for that transaction - what is not kept is a permanent, cross-listing identity profile.
Related but not identical - see the separate guide on selling without a business account for that specific requirement.
